From development to manufacture of our products you can rest assured: we at Paul & Co think of efficient energy management. Together with our employees across all production areas, we systematically develop energy saving measures with a concrete goal: easing the burden on the environment.

We measure and check the energy consumption of our systems and processes regularly, in order to determine the energy saving potential when producing paper cores, edge protector solutions and core board and to optimise it correspondingly. When using electrical energy, for example, we use long-term power measurement and try not to obtain peak-load power.

From natural gas to photovoltaic

Years ago, we have already taken an important step to improve the energy efficiency in our plants. We completely renewed our heating system. Through the switch from steam to hot water we were successful in optimising the use of energy. In addition, at our site in Wedderstedt we switched over to regenerative energy from our own photovoltaic system. Furthermore, when drying our cores we use almost exclusively heat from natural gas. If you decide to collaborate with us, you decide in favour of products which are produced sustainably in an energy-saving way.


The environment is also important to us when it comes to energy procurement!
That is why we only purchase electricity from renewable energy plants at all our German paper core and corrugated board sites. By opting for green electricity, the Kunert Group is making an important contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and sending a clear signal for climate-friendly energy supply.

Certified efficiency

  • Recording of the engaged energy sources with evidence of a management system to improve energy efficiency by TÜV SÜD in 2013.
  • 2015 Introduction of an Energy Management System in accordance with the worldwide valid ISO 50001 Standard. Our core board plant Carl Macher Hülsenpapiere also has this certificate.
  • Confirmed by the green electricity certificate from KlimaInvest Green Concepts GmbH.
