Paul & Co is setting new standards in service and consulting – innovations in paper cores and load securing

Paul & Co at interpack 2017

Service and consulting expertise of the specialists for paper cores and angular edge protectors are clearly the focus in their presentation at the trade fair. “At interpack, we show our best and meet any challenge in terms of service and consulting,” says Manfred Kunert, Managing Partner of paper core expert Paul & Co. “We therefore invite trade fair visitors to face us with a demanding winding process or packaging task. We will provide a customised solution.”

The specific performance characteristics of the company comprise high-quality products, comprehensive service and customer-oriented problem solutions. “Intensive dialogues with our customers enable us to identify what is expected from us and our products in order to work together on an appropriate solution,” explains Kunert. “We thereby place importance on solving problems before they cause costs. We are integrating customers, suppliers and machine manufacturers into work to obtain the best possible result.” The close cooperation with the manufacturers of winding and slitting machines offers revealing perspectives, too. “Our suggested solutions are based on a comprehensive analysis of the problem and hard facts – core elements of our consulting expertise.” This ensures that every winding material obtains the appropriate paper core in order to withstand the strains and stress during winding, unwinding, transport and storage.

Paul & Co is also at the forefront of innovation.

Cores Tack High Core

In the product line of paper cores Paul & Co presents a new technology for initial winding. In future, film manufacturers will be able to start winding without adhesive tape or other support. The "Tack high Cores" for films and foils are completely equipped with a self-adhesive surface that can be activated with water when required. Without moistening, the surface of the core remains smooth and does not stick. In addition to simplified handling, the main advantage of this technology is improved cleanliness. Dust pick-up in particular when the paper cores are cut is reduced to almost zero because the adhesive force will be activated only immediately before use.

Effective load securing with Flex-Protect

With “Flex-Protect”, Paul & Co presents an innovation for effective load securing of flexible bulk containers, so-called bigbags. “Flex-Protect” consists of flat profiles which are fastened to a corrugated cardboard sheet, thus adapting perfectly to the individual shapes of bigbags or other cylindrical containers. The load unit can be easily fixed by means of the two notches for the strap guide.

Paul & Co has been established in 1893 and produces a wide range of paper cores: from standard versions for different reeled goods to high-performance cores for paper and surface refined cores for highly sensitive films and foils. Furthermore, packaging with system belongs to our product range: e.g. angular edge protectors and edge protectors for reels, flat profiles or U-profiles. The Kunert Group is member of a worldwide partnership-network. Annually, the employees produce 210,000 tonnes of paper cores and edge protectors, as well as 250,000 tonnes of core board. In addition to vocational training in the commercial, technical or industrial sector, Paul & Co offers internships for pupils and students and cooperates with universities for degree theses in the fields of paper and board, paper cores and logistics.
