Paul & Co takes over Graupner

The history of the A. Graupner core factory, the oldest paper core factory in Germany, reaches as far back as the year 1880. Located in Raschau-Markersbach in the German state of Saxony, after the breakup of the German Democratic Republic, the tradition-rich company was reprivatised in 1990 and subsequently restructured and modernised. In the decades since then, it has made a name for itself as a producer of thin-walled cores.

For love of tradition
Under the skilful guidance of Dr. Bernd Seltmann, A. Graupner developed into a state-of-the-art core factory with its own testing laboratory and about 9,000 m2 of production and warehouse area. Cores for cling film, specialties such as doner kebab cores, but also cores for bandaging materials for the medical sector are produced on the special production lines. The company is certified according to ISO 9001 and is a reliable supplier for much of the European market for its products.

The cooperation between the Graupner core plant and Paul & Co began some years ago. The expertise of the specialist from Saxony greatly enriches the product portfolio of our paper core group. With the retirement of Dr. Bernd Seltmann as Managing Partner in December 2022, a very successful era is drawing to a close for the plant. However, every end is a new beginning, and so the success story in Raschau-Markersbach will continue as Paul & Co will further develop the Graupner core factory as a specialist for thin-walled paper cores in Europe. The transfer of orders within the Kunert Group will make this sector even more efficient. In doing so, Paul & Co is relying on the wealth of experience of its proven colleagues from Raschau. Every job will be retained, even though sales will be managed from Wildflecken in the future.

“I’ve steered the company A. Graupner since 1991. It was an exciting time – historically, politically, and economically. The fact that Graupner has such a solid and international reputation today fills me with pride. I want to thank all of the employees and associates who have contributed to the company’s success. I’m confident that under the leadership of Paul & Co in Wildflecken, it will continue to prosper.”  Dr. Bernd Seltmann
