Future-oriented cooperation agreement between Kunert Group and Geis Group

The challenges that the logistics industry currently has to accept and to master have increased enormously in recent years. Changing framework conditions due to climate protection requirements, such as toll fees and CO² levies, transformation to “Logistics 4.0”, acute shortage of drivers and skilled workers as well as the threat of a gridlock require special packages of measures in order to sustainably ensure transportation.

Highly efficient and secure logistics structures are the backbone of the Kunert Group's supply chain. For years, the Kunert Group has been pushing ahead with the continuous expansion of internal and external logistics processes while maintaining a very high level of quality. In an effort to guarantee maximum logistics performance, talks have already been held since the beginning of the year with one of the long-standing logistics partners, the Geis Group, and in September a cooperative business relationship was put on a solid and future-oriented footing with a long-term contract.

Top priority of this cooperative partnership agreement remains the binding compliance with all delivery commitments. Necessary infrastructural measures have been coordinated and detailed preparatory work has been intensively pursued.

Networking is the magic word
With digital networking, the real and digital worlds of the two contractual partners are growing even closer together. The IT link between the Kunert Group and the Geis Group is a key component for successful cooperation and smooth processes in order, transport and warehouse management. This involves digital mapping of all logistics processes along the supply chain, which both cooperation partners have access to. Data protection and data security play a particularly important role here.

At the start of the cooperation on January 1, 2021, paper core plants in Wildflecken, Peiting, Soest and Wedderstedt, Kunert Wellpappe in Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale and paper mills Macher in Brunnenthal and Papeteries du Rhin in Illzach, France, will be integrated into the project. In the course of the year 2021, the corrugated board plant in Biebesheim will also be connected.

Logistic department for the Kunert Group
On the operational level, Geis Group is currently initiating a special staff unit in Fulda where employees receive freight orders of the individual plants directly from the Kunert Group's IFS system. Until now, Kunert Group has handled the utilisation of the available loading capacities, scheduling and commissioning of all logistics partners in-house. This part will now be taken over by Geis Group.
Tasks include complete logistical processing of all orders: truck scheduling, efficiency control of freight utilisation, also in combination with other transport orders, the possible need to subcontract other transport companies from the Kunert network, as well as on-time loading at the plant and punctual delivery to Kunert customers in Germany and abroad.

Customer communication and scheduling as well as the dispatch of trucks in all plants are still within the responsibility of the Kunert Group experts.

The Kunert Group's long-term logistics and forwarding partners are an integral part of the new logistics concept. A future concept in which partnership, trust and expertise of two internationally active family-owned companies have found a solid basis.
